Considering the history between the British Crown and the Holy See, there is a lot of profound symbolism in this photograph.
It has been nearly 500 years since the British monarch repudiated the Pope in an act of schism to set up his own church. So it is very intriguing to see the Successor of Peter and Clement VII now holding the Successor of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, helping her as she takes a step to keep her from falling, and the Queen accepting the Pope's assistance.
